YAML to JSON

Convert supported YAML data into formatted JSON.

How to use YAML to JSON

  1. Paste a YAML document or choose a .yaml or .yml file. Start with simple mappings, lists, strings, booleans, and numbers.
  2. Select Convert YAML to JSON and read any parser message. Unsupported tags, duplicate keys, unsafe values, or non-string mapping keys are rejected.
  3. Review the formatted JSON and download converted.json. Check numbers and nested data before using the output in another system.

What this tool does

Custom tags and unsupported constructs are rejected.

Example

A YAML document with name set to Nova, active set to true, and items containing one and two converts to a JSON object with a string, a boolean, and an array.

Frequently asked questions

Can this convert custom YAML tags?

No. Custom tags and unsupported constructs are rejected rather than executed or guessed.

What happens to very large integers?

Integers outside JavaScript's safe numeric range are rejected because JSON number conversion could lose precision. Quote the value if it must remain text.
